Apple releases iTunes 9.2.1 to Squash BugsApple has released an update of its media playback and management software - iTunes for fixing certain bugs to make it work better with iBooks 1.1.1. Apart from that, this update also brings a fix for iPhones and iPod touch facing iOS 4.0 update issue. However, the noteworthy change is this update disables older versions of some third party plugins. Looks like Apple wants to employ total control of the iTunes software.

In the past too, iTunes has faced certain limitations and hence plugins like ScrobblePod, ByteController, etc. were developed to fulfill the missing features in it. Even syncing third party media players was made possible from iTunes but Apple axed it after its splat with Palm over Palm Pre's Media Sync. This new update also disables some third party plugins that are installed to add more features to the iTunes.

The bug fixes included in iTunes 9.2.1:

    * Disables older versions of some incompatible third-party plug-ins
    * Addresses minor issues with dragging and dropping items
    * Addresses a performance issue when first syncing to some devices with iTunes 9.2
    * Addresses an issue upgrading to iOS 4 on an iPhone or iPod touch with encrypted back-ups
    * Addresses other issues that improve stability and performance

Download the iTunes 9.2.1 from Apple website for Mac (101.38MB) and Windows (92.48MB for 32-bit and 93.18MB for Win 64).
